Per Diem, Speech Language Pathologist- Acute Therapy

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

•Comprehensive knowledge of assessment and intervention techniques in a medical and physical disabilities setting.

•Perform evaluations

•Demonstrate appropriate treatment interventions and strategies

•Complete discharge planning for patients

•Supervise students

■ Be a positive role model for staff and the profession

■ Foster leadership and serve as a mentor for staff

•Assist in the quality improvement process and program development

■ Knowledge and experience with bedside swallow exams and videoswallow evaluations

■ Must possess a minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system (specifically including keyboard and mouse skills). As applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must additionally possess a working knowledge of word processing, databases, presentation development, e-mail, browser and online reporting.

Graduate of an accredited SLP program

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

Valid and current license as a SLP in the state of California Valid and current CPR certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing therapist; minimum of one year experience in an acute care setting that includes clinical swallowing evaluations, modified barium swallow evaluations, speaking valve evaluations. Experience working with the electronic health record preferred.

Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) Able to push, pull, lift up to 100 lbs on an intermittent basis; able to bend, stoop, sit, stand and walk without restrictions.
