The Department of 7North Orthopedic/General Surgery has a position available for a CN IV.
7 North East provides services to patients with a variety of medical diagnosis, pre-operative and post-operative general surgical / musculoskeletal surgery patients and musculoskeletal trauma patients. The most common diagnoses are: pneumonia, wound infection, cellulitis and post R/O MI from telemetry units. The most common general surgical procedures are laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic gastroplasty or banding, mastectomy, and colon resection. The most common musculoskeletal diagnosis &/or procedures are fractured hips pre & post surgery, fractured extremities, biopsy & resection bone tumors.
7 North West provides services patients with pre-operative and post-operative musculoskeletal surgery patients and musculoskeletal trauma patients. The most common procedures are Total Joint Replacement, spine surgery and extremity surgery for bone, muscle or tendon problems, diseases or injuries. Special procedures particular to 7 North include: Traction, Compartment monitoring, Casting, Orthopedic Devices (CPM / electric cool ), Auto-transfusion, Epidural continuous infusion, Continuous nerve block infusion, and Leech therapy.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse IV, as an expert professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. She/he consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes her/his knowledge base and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others in the role of collegial consultant and resource person. She/he demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst for effective changes within Nursing at the unit, service line and institutional levels. The Clinical Nurse IV provides nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care. The Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, CSMC Code of Conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organizations Standards. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of patients to follow directions/instructions and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment; and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones.

-B.S.N. from an accredited school of nursing.
-Current and valid registered nurse license from the State of California.
-Current and valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association.
-Certification in speciality such as Med/Surg or other applicable certification.
-Full command (written and verbal) of the English language.
-Must possess minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills and applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist.
-Meets clinical criteria and protocol for CNIV.
-Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned clinical nurse level and area.
-Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
-Strong and excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
-Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area.
-Demonstrates commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
-Minimum of five (5) years or more work experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care setting
-Minimum three (3) years or more in specialty patient care such as Orthopedics or other specialty.
-Minimum three (3) years or more work experience as a supervisor or Charge Nurse work experience.
-Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment.
-The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions
