Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The Director of Plant Operations & Engineering Services plans, directs and leads the organizational functions which operate & maintain the engineering services, real property, facilities management, plant operations and equipment with the additional responsibilities:
•Responsible for the repairs, maintenance & operations of the hospital campus containing 5 million square feet of facilities space as well as the clinical & research equipment essential to the organization's mission.
•Manages the engineering processes to ensure efficient operations and optimization of labor, equipment and resources.
•Provides motivational leadership to a diverse facilities management team and requires process ownership, critical thinking, decision making, organization, change management skills and technical expertise.
•Establishes the vision for the department while managing and developing the team to ensure all department policies, systems, processes and personnel are aligned with corporate strategies.

o Must be available to provide uninterrupted watches and unscheduled overtime.
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture required; Master's Degree/MBA Preferred
•LEED accreditation preferred
•Certified Health Care Facility Management (CHFM) preferred
•Certified Project Manager preferred
•Certified Healthcare Facilities Professional (CHFP) preferred
•Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt / Process Improvement training preferred
•Fundamental skills in critical systems including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, un-interruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution systems, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, medical gas elevators, pimps, tooling and Building Management Systems.
•Proficiency in Environment of Care Life Safety systems, CMMS, JCAHO, California Department of Public Health and other licensing and regulatory agencies.
•Minimum of Fifteen (15) years of progressive experience and demonstrated success in the areas of engineering, facilities management, plant maintenance and construction within a complex acute care environment which includes at least five (5) years at the Director level.
•Demonstrated experience in effectively overseeing large projects in a cross-functional environment. Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects and balance resources.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with deep experience in project management and change management

o This position requires a great deal of sitting, walking & standing.
