Cedars-Sinai Staff Assistant II - Surgical Pathology in Los Angeles, California
Under general supervision, the Staff Assistant II performs a full range of office clerical and secretarial duties to include typing, filing, receptionist, opening and distributing mail, copying documents, etc.
At this level incumbents are expected to organize, prioritize and perform work in a timely manner and within established guides, practices and procedures. Incumbents frequently are cross-trained in other office functions and provide back-up coverage. Incumbents apply a detailed knowledge of assigned area of responsibility and general knowledge of department functions and the larger Health System in accomplishing work assignments.
•High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
•Courses & work experience in communications, public contact, book-keeping, business machines and correspondence, preferred.
•At least one year of office administrative, reception, or customer service experience required.
•Experience answering telephone calls required.
•Must possess a minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or a comparable system (specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills). Must additionally possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation development, E-mail browsers and on-line reporting.
•Ability to type 45 to 50 WPM, preferred.
•Experience demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently with short time-lines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner.
•Knowledge and understanding of the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the Department, and the inter-relationship with other departments.
•Ability to interact effectively with Directors, Managers, internal staff, patients and representatives of public agencies and business.
•English speaking, spelling, grammar, & simple math skills equivalent to high school level.
•Frequent sitting and working with computer
•Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
•Ability to walk across campus as needed
