Summary ofEssential Job Duties

Working under

direct supervision Pramod Butte, MBBS, PhD, the Research Associate II performs

routine and increasingly complex laboratory tasks and procedures and develops

technical expertise in diagnostic system development in the department of

neurosurgery. The Research Associate II

will participate in research activities involving all aspects of the research

process, to include, but not limited to; investigation, technical,

testing/validation of results, and report findings. The Associate will perform a variety of

routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of

laboratory research projects. The

Associate will observe and comply with safety standards and procedures, assist

in preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly

meetings, and assist in general laboratory maintenance. This position does not have supervisory


In addition to routine

tasks, the Associate will:

Assist in

development and manufacturing of prototype systems.

Assist in

collecting experimental data using time resolved fluorescence system in the

operating room or in the laboratory.

Maintain record

of all experimental work.


experimental data generated in the lab.

Analyze data

and execute programs for data analyses.

Ensure surgical

equipment/devices are setup before the procedure and meet sterility and safety


Ensure the

laboratory is organized and meets health and safety guidelines.


Bachelor of

Science or associates Degree in engineering sciences and/or biological



Two (2) years

of laboratory experience. Understanding

of general research objectives. Familiar

with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab

organization. Working knowledge of

database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software,

including but not limited to Excel and Word.

Must be highly motivated and able to work independently. Must have

superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability

to work across company disciplines and functional units, and computer

application experience. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials,

and attention to details.

Ability to

learn additional skills in video editing and image manipulation and data

processing (using python). Experience with Linux, micro-controllers, cabling,

soldering, metal works, CNC machining, fabrication technologies, electrical

circuits, in-depth programming preferred.
