Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Department of Medical Surgical Oncology/Hospice has an exciting position available for a Registered Nurse IV.
4SE (south east) is located on the 4thfloor of the South Tower of the Medical Center. Inpatient medical services are provided on a 24-hour basis. 4SE has 31 private rooms, two (2) of which are rooms with negative pressure airflow for respiratory isolation patients. 4SE has an average daily census of
- Scope Of Service Provided:
4SE is integrated within the General Medical-Surgical Service and Departments of Medicine and Infectious Diseases to provide quality care to adult (aged 15 and higher) medical patients who are acutely ill with a spectrum of diagnoses related to HIV/AIDS, as well as other medical diagnoses such as: pneumonia, r/o tuberculosis, sepsis, sickle cell anemia, cancer and palliative care. Patients are admitted to the unit by their primary care physician or by the Hospitalist/Faculty Service. An interdisciplinary approach to care is provided throughout the continuum of service. Patient care needs are identified through interdisciplinary assessments, team care planning, and a patient classification system. There is a special focus on pain management, medications, self-care, nutrition, and education. 4SE staff provides special procedures including chemotherapy administration and monitoring, pain management, metabolic support, patient and caregiver education and support, and palliative care. Respiratory isolation services are provided to those patients requiring ‘airborne precautions’. Patients who require a higher level of care are transferred either to a cardiac monitoring unit or to an intensive care unit (ICU). - Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The Registered Nurse IV, as an expert professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. She/he consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes her/his knowledge base and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others in the role of collegial consultant and resource person. She/he demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst for effective changes within Nursing at the unit, service line and institutional levels. The Registered Nurse IV provides nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care. The Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, CSMC Code of Conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organizations Standards. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of patients to follow directions/instructions and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment; and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones.

Qualification Requirements/Preferences Educational, License, Certification and Other Requirements:
B.S.N. from an accredited school of nursing is preferred.
Current and valid registered nurse license from the State of California.
Current and valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association.
Specialty Certification is preferred (OCN, Palliative Care, Pain Management), ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy or ONS Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
Must possess minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills and applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist.
Full command (written and verbal) of the English Language.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Minimum of 5 year experience as RN in acute care setting preferably in specialty. NOTE: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II)Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse assigned level.
