Cedars-Sinai Registered Nurse III - Heart Transplant in Los Angeles, California

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

Under the direction of the CN IV, ANM, NPs, Cardiologists, and Associate Director, the CN III performs a variety of direct patient care activities or tasks specific to the Advanced Heart Disease Center patient population (Heart Failure, MCS, and Heart Transplant patients).

Expected daily duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performing clinical intakes

  • Help with EKG’s

  • Placing orders for clinic visits

  • Calling patients with test results and medication changes

  • Handling pharmacy refill requests over the phone and/or on paper

  • Performs data entry into Epic

  • Ability to perform telephone triage

  • Communicate with Physicians appropriately and directly

The Clinical Nurse III provides nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, and the Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, CSMC Code of Conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Nursing Strategic Plan. He/she maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of the adolescent, adult and geriatric patients to follow direction/instructions and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environmental and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones in the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population.


A minimum of three (3) years of Adult Cardiac Acute Care Nursing experience.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) Required

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

Current California RN license

Current BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association

Specialty certification is required (or must obtain within 12 months of hire if hired)

Physical Demands:

Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment. Exposure to normal office and clinic area noise. Sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
