Cedars-Sinai Prenatal Screening Coordinator in Los Angeles, California

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

The California Prenatal Screening Program (PNS) is focused on detecting birth defects during pregnancy. The PNS Program provides prenatal screening and follow-up services (such as genetic counseling, ultrasound, non-invasive prenatal testing, CVS, and amniocentesis), where indicated, to pregnant women in California.

The Prenatal Screening Coordinator performs case management by confirming information, finalizing results and monitoring follow-up services. He or she communicates between the California Genetic Disease Screening Program, clinicians, blood collection facilities, Prenatal Diagnosis Centers and patients. Additional Coordinator responsibilities include providing on-site trainings for area clinicians and clinical staff.

Experience:

Preferred:

•Two years professional experience working in a healthcare environment with diverse patient populations, preferably in OB/GYN, medical genetics and/or pediatrics (a combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered)

•Experience in public speaking and/or teaching

•Working or conceptual knowledge of prenatal screening, genetics, embryology, birth defects, and statistics

•Proficient typing speed

•Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

•Fluency in a second language (Spanish preferred)

Educational Requirements:

Required: BA/BS/BSN with experience in OB, Medical Genetics and/or Pediatrics

Preferred: Master level or above in one of the following:

•Genetic Counselor (board eligible or board certified)

•Registered Nurse (with experience in OB/GYN or Pediatrics, or Medical Genetics)

•Master of Public Health (MPH), Medical Social Worker, or other allied health care professional, preferably with experience in OB, Medical Genetics and/or Pediatrics

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

As required by professional status listed above.
