Cedars-Sinai Postdoctoral Scientist - Pathology - Pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s Disease - Dr. Warren Tourtellotte's Lab in Los Angeles, California

As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will be working in the Tourtellotte lab which studies the pathogenesis of cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s Disease (Ou-Yang et al., Sci. Transl. Med., 10, 459) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Qiu et al., J. Clin. Invest., 124, 981). The lab also has an interest in transcriptional regulation of genes involved in learning and memory (Li et al., Mol. Cell. Neurosci, 35, 76; O’Donovan et al., Trends Neursoci., 22, 167). In this role, you will study the role of microglial function in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and brain B-amyloid proteostasis.

Essential job duties and responsibilities:

  • Working independently on research projects under the supervision of the principal investigator (mentor).

  • Design and conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, analyze data for publication and grant applications.

  • Present research at national and international meetings, and prepare manuscripts for publication.

  • Teaching other research staff, students, and residents may be required.

Educational Requirements

  • Must hold a Doctoral Degree (preferably with expertise in neuroscience, neurobiology, molecular biology, neurodegenerative disease research or neuropathology) and have a passion for translational research using animal models to study molecular mechanisms in animal models of neurodegenerative disease.


  • Experience in molecular biology, working with transgenic mice, cell culture, histological analysis, immunocytochemistry and imaging techniques is preferred.
