Cedars-Sinai Postdoctoral Scientist - Neurosurgery - Dr. Ljubimova in Los Angeles, California

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, the Research Fellow will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. Research projecs are developed under the direction of Julia Ljubimova, MD, PhD, Director of the Nanomedicine Research Center in the Department of Neurosurgery, and Keith L. Black, MD, Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery, and are currently funded by four(4) new, 5-year NIH/NCI grants and private foundations. The Research Postdoctoral Scientist may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Not responsible for generating grant funds.

Educational Requirements:

Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.

Licenses/Certifications: N/A


Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor/PI within area of specialization. Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to four (1-4) years post-doctoral appointment. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment. Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint).

Must have experience in cancer biology and preclinical/clinical tumor treatment. The job will include studying the therapeutic properties and molecular biological mechanisms of new nanodrugs, which will be optimized for clinical efficacy to treat brain and breast tumors.

Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers of the medical center.

Physical Demands:

Position requires working with microscopes and computers for extended periods of time and the use of specialized laboratory equipment. Must be able to sit, stand and/or stoop for long periods of time. Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds.
