Job Posting: A Postdoctoral Scientist opportunity is available in the Noninvasive Cardiology area to study the role of Echocardiology in Structural Heart Disease and Cardiovascular under the direction of Principal Investigator (PI), Robert Siegel, Director of the Cardiac Noninvasive Laboratory. Candidate works independently, but in close cooperation and in consultation with Dr. Siegel and Echo lab research personnel, on existing and new research projects within the area of specialization. The Postdoctoral Scientist acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of Cardiac Echo research and objectives. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, analysis, operation, maintenance of specialized software programs and equipment. Knowledge of safety standards for specialized equipment, clinical trial compliances, protocols, and regulatory procedures. The candidate will perform studies on the role of two dimensional (2-D) and three dimensional (3D) echocardiography in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, specifically in determinants and outcomes in studies of patients with valvular, congenital and structural heart disease by reviewing 2D and 3D Echo images, learning techniques involving Echocardiography being conducted at the Heart Institute, with the opportunity to develop individual research protocol(s) within the program. The position will be involved in reviewing research documents, analysis of data, assessments of innovative procedures, review and preparation of case information, and study treatment outcomes based on traditional and innovative methods. The Postdoctoral Scientist will evaluate new and previously collected data regarding procedures and devices in comparison to traditional heart surgery to assess, measure, replace or repair cardiac structures and associated treatments and procedures. Research findings based on study data will be developed for publication and presentation. Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal and Co-Investigators, the postdoctoral scientist may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols; and may assist in the preparation of grant proposals but are not responsible for generating grant funds.
Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational and Experience Requirements:
Candidate should have and MD and or PhD degree in cardiovascular medicine with a specialization in Noninvasive Cardiology and/or structural heart disease with previous academic and/or research experience in this specialty; knowledge of research and statistical methodology.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other Windows-based software.
