Essential Duties:

As a Pharmacy

Support Specialist II, you will support the physician and clinical staff

offices in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically

related tasks in the area of pharmaceutical supplies and services. You can look

forward to taking charge of the following responsibilities.

  • Overseesappropriate use of Pyxis, including training the Nursing staff

  • Ensuresstaff is properly signing out medications and all medications areaccounted for

  • Performsinventory and restocks appropriate medications into Pyxis as par levelsdecrease

  • Checksfor expired medications on a monthly basis; rotates medication stock toprevent waste

  • Returnsexpired medications to manufacturer/vendor, if applicable

  • Ensuresall refrigeration temperatures are in range

  • Generatesvarious reports from Pyxis on a daily/weekly/monthly basis

  • Managesthe inventory, stock-outs, outdates and the resolution of discrepancies

  • Coordinateswith departments and facilitates new Pyxis deployments

  • Facilitatesnew physician on-boarding

  • Actas a liaison between CareFusion and staff in resolving issues and/orproviding Pyxis support

  • FacilitatesInjectable Medication Authorization process

  • Educatesand reinforces office staff regarding the completion of the injectablemedication referral form.

  • Reviewsand manages authorizations

  • Procurementand delivery of medications to the provider prior to scheduled appointmentand/or as directed

  • AssistsPharmacy Buyer with Medication Purchasing (if necessary)

  • CreatesPOs for all medication purchases in Peoplesoft

  • Procuresmedications from appropriate vendor based on established or projectedinventory needs for all medical group office locations

  • Verifiesaccuracy of medication shipments and conducts follow-up to resolve issues

  • Auditscharts and creates reports regarding discrepancies between Pyxis and EMR

  • Coordinatesmedication recalls throughout medical suites and returns to the manufacturer/vendor


  • HighSchool Diploma or GED required


  • PharmacyTechnician License in the State of California required

  • Current,unrestricted Driver's License, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportationrequired


  • Aminimum of 3 years of Pharmacy experience required

  • Demonstratedknowledge of medications, including injectables, required

  • Solidcomputer proficiency to perform basic data entry
