Cedars-Sinai Patient Service Representative II - Endocrinology/Rheumatology - Full-Time (Day Shift) in Los Angeles, California

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

The Patient Service

Representative II (PSR II), following established practices, policies, and

guidelines, provides clerical and administrative support duties in the

Endocrinology/Rheumatology clinic. The PSR II will provide coverage to the

different areas as needed.

Duties may include:

  • Answering incomingtelephone calls

  • Scheduling and authorizing appointments, diagnostic tests andancillary services

  • Patient check in/out and rescheduling of follow-upappointments

  • Insurance authorization and verification functions

  • Medicalrecord preparation

  • Processing referral work queue

  • HID scanning preparation

  • Appointment reminder calls

The PSR II will apply a detailed knowledge of

the areas of assigned responsibility, and a general knowledge of the ambulatory/outpatient

physician setting and its interrelation with the larger Health System


The PSR II ensures the timely completion of work assignments in

accord with established timelines.

Retrieves information from files as requested and assembles paperwork and reference material as requested by physicians, nurses, and patients. Responsible for following Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and HIPAA confidentiality guidelines while performing all duties.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:


Experience and Skills:

2 years of experience in a healthcare/medical office setting scheduling appointments and ancillary services for patients required.

Previous work experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting or physician’s office preferred.

Demonstrates excellent communication skills, takes complete and accurate messages and relays information to appropriate party to support operational aspects of patient care.

Demonstrates the ability to assemble the admitting and financial paperwork for inclusion on the patient chart in accordance with regulatory and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center requirements.

Experience demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently with short timelines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner.

Ability to interact effectively with Directors, Managers, internal staff, patients, physicians, and representatives of outside agencies.

Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills for interacting with patients, payers, physicians and other Cedars-Sinai Health System customers.

Must possess a minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or a comparable system (specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills).

Must possess a working knowledge of basic word processing, email browsers and online internet access.
