About the Team

The Ambulatory Infusion Center provides therapeutic, intravenous infusions to outpatients. Infusions include biological medications for inflammatory bowel diseases, IV hydration, intravenous immunoglobulin, blood products and antibiotic therapy. Other services include medication injections, central line access and phlebotomy for diagnostic labs.

About the Role

The Patient Service Representative II (PSR II), following established practices, policies and guidelines, provides clerical and administrative support/duties while handling high volume of patient coordination and complex scheduling in the licensed clinics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The PSR II is cross-trained to cover multiple providers, clinics, and is a resource.

Duties may include: ability to multitask, such as greeting patients, scheduling procedures, answering incoming telephone calls, checking-in patients, responding to emails, checking voicemails, maintaining the work area in neat and orderly manner, ordering office supplies; maintaining a reliable attendance; scheduling and authorization for appointments, coordination of procedures/tests/infusions and other ancillary services; patient check-out and rescheduling of follow-up appointments; training for new PSRs; insurance verification functions; chart/medical records preparation; and sorting and disposition of mail and patient information.

The PSR incumbent will work closely with the CN IV to maintain a clinical appointment schedule, which supports quality patient care and maximum productivity of clinical staff. Continuously monitors the clinic schedule for utilization and makes sure that staff are aware of available appointments. Ensures that all encounters are complete and accurate for scheduling and works with charge nurse to resolve inaccurate encounters.

This PSR II must function at a high-level and have a thorough understanding of the PSR role. Applies a detailed knowledge of the areas of assigned responsibility, and a general knowledge of the ambulatory/outpatient physician setting and its interrelation with the larger Health System organization. Ensures the timely completion of work assignments in accord with established timelines.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities) we are looking for:

•High School Diploma/GED required.

•College Diploma preferred.

•General understanding of Medical Terminology, Medical Terminology coursework preferred.

•Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office setting/scheduling of patients/working with insurance companies and obtaining authorizations.

•Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills for interacting with patients, payors, physicians and other CSHS customers.

•Knowledge and understanding of the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the outpatient physician clinic and the relationship with the larger Cedars-Sinai Health System and the ability to apply the knowledge to the work of the office and/or comparable experience.

•Experience demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently with short timelines, to prioritize and organize work and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner.

•Ability to interact effectively with Directors, Managers, internal staff, patients, physicians and representatives of outside agencies.

•Demonstrated ability to work well as a team player and independently.

•English language proficiency. Being bilingual is helpful!
