Cedars-Sinai Cytotechnologist Team Leader - Full Time in Los Angeles, California

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

The Cytotechnologist Team Leader provides leadership and has direct responsibility for the supervision of a Pathology and Laboratory Medicine division or section. In this capacity, the Team Leader is responsible for maintaining daily staffing and scheduling, organization of work, supervision of employees, staff development and orientation, monitoring and evaluating performance by providing input to the manager, participating in communication of evaluations and corrective actions, expense control, quality assurance, process improvement, troubleshooting and problem solving in the delivery of services and related programs within the division. Performs all functions in assigned area of responsibility.

Educational Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate Degree preferred, with two years of college in a biological science, chemistry, or a comparable level of education.

License/Certification Requirements:

  • Certification in cytotechnology or specialist in cytotechnology by the ASCP Board of Registry; valid California Cytotechnology license.

Experience:

  • Five years of progressively responsible Cytology laboratory experience and demonstrated ability to independently lead laboratory operations, staff performance and productivity, quality control and assurance, compliance, customer service and satisfaction.

Physical Demands:

  • Demonstrated ability to compose letters, policy statements, procedure manuals and reports on own initiative; ability to organize complex statistical and narrative reports, charts and exhibits into a complete document suitable for publication and distribution.

  • Must possess a minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation development, E-mail, browsers and on-line reporting.

  • Professional involvement in at least one professional association such as membership or committees, publication of papers and presentation of conferences, desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate staff and interact with peers, patients, physicians and other customers of the medical center.

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills; full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
