Craft Specialist - HVAC Requisition # 29354

The Craft Specialist - HVAC installs, inspects, operates and repairs major heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Set priorities and handles multiple projects or assignments and meets completion schedules within established objectives. Performs preventive maintenance. Uses various hand tools and testing instruments to accomplish assigned tasks. Reports appropriate corrections/repairs and makes referrals to the appropriate Operations Supervisor, Lead Craft Specialist, Central Dispatch or Specialty Shops. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualification Requirements/Preferences:

Completion of High school or an equivalent trade school with related specialty or comparable level of education and work experience is required. A minimum of two (2) years at an apprentice level of the craft or trade is preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

HVAC Technician EPA Certification Type I, II or Universal certified.


Hospital experience preferred. Must read, write, speak English and be able to read training documents. Thorough knowledge and experience on drawing schematics, laying out work, trouble shooting of equipment and machinery is required. Able to read blueprints and schematics. Electrical and mechanical background is required. Progressively responsible experience demonstrating ability to set priorities and handle multiple or assignments and meet completion schedules within established time frames.

Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking)

This position requires a great deal of walking and standing. Must be able to push equipment carts and move job-related equipment. Must be able to lift fifty to eighty (50-80) pounds, stoop, bend and work in different positions for extended periods of time. Must be able to tolerate heat, noise, dust, smoke, unpleasant odors and chemicals. Must be adept at handling themselves in potentially dangerous situations and areas. Must be able to occasionally work in hot environments.
