The Health Information Department (HID) is committed to efficiently managing the collection, organization, classification, storage, retrieval, and release of health information for patients of the Medical Center.
Under general direction of the HID CDI/Core Measures Supervisor or Manager you will be is responsible for:
Improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation.
Facilitate modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers.
Facilitate clarity of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and medical center outcomes which incorporates current DRG methodologies (e.g. MS-DRG) by CMS and/or other regulating/quality reporting bodies (e.g. APR-DRG)
And, educate all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Information Management;
Foreign medical degree may be considered;
Current RN license (not limited to State of California) or higher
clinical degree (i.e. MD), or Registered Health Info Admin. (RHIA), or
Registered Health Info Tech. (RHIT) or Certified Clinical Documentation
Minimumof 3 years Acute Care experience in Clinical Care, Utilization Review,Coding, or Case Management. Working knowledge of TJC standards andregulatory requirements.
Ahigh level of clinical knowledge required to participate collaborativelywith all members of the care team.
Strongbroad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiologyof disease processes
Strongcritical thinking skills and exceptional ability to integrate knowledge
Excellentobservation, communication and decision making abilities
Strongability to assess, analyze, and evaluate data
Intermediateto advanced organizational and computer skills required
Abilityto prioritize work, clearly communicate, interact with, and teach alllevels of professions, including but not limited to physicians and nursingpersonnel, managers, various support staff departments, physician offices,and coding.
Thedepartment will consider training an Internal applicant with strongCritical Care, PACU or ED experience.
