The Radiation Oncology department utilizes an interdisciplinary approach in the management of patient care. Patient assessment and plan of care involve input from a team of physicians, nurses, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nutrition and social work. This team facilitates continuum of care by providing the coordination and transfer of patients to inpatient, home care and SOCC. The team closely collaborates with the referring physicians as well as the CSMC inpatient nursing, nutrition and social work staff. The department confines its operations to the radiation treatment of patients with cancer. However, there is a growing number of patients now being seen and treated for non-malignant conditions such as keloids, AVM’s, certain benign brain tumors and heterotopic bone formation.

Functioning under the general supervision of the Service Line Manager and a licensed caregiver, the Clinical Care Associate (CCA) provides clinical and administrative support to nurses, physicians and allied health providers (Clinicians) working in the hospital licensed clinics.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will conduct patient interview, data collection, documentation in the medical record.

  • Prepares patient medical records, films and test results prior visit to ensure paper and/or EMR chart is ready for the licensed clinician.

  • Follows hospital policy for the use of two patient identifiers.

  • Greets and escorts patients. Communicates / interacts with patients using AIDET and Improving Service Delivery standards to maximize patient satisfaction with their experience.

  • You will set-up exam room, cleaning and preparing for patients.

  • You will be ordering/stocking of medical supplies,

  • You will provide general administrative support, and other duties as assigned.

  • Good written and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, payers, physicians and other CSHS customers.

  • Minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or a comparable system, basic word processing, E-mail browsers and on-line internet access.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the outpatient physician clinic, and the relationship within the larger Cedars-Sinai Health System, and apply the knowledge to the work of the office.

  • Experience the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently with short time-lines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a team player and independently.

  • English language proficiency.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of technical knowledge in the effective use of computer support programs, electronic medical records and other aids for productivity

Patient Intake:

  • Interviews established patients to facilitate data collection prior to patients being seen by clinician.

  • As required by clinic, may measure vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height and weight, pulse oximetry, and record information related to the chief complaint/ reason for visit and other required information in the patient medical record.

  • Immediately reports all out of range and abnormal data to a licensed clinician, using approved parameters.

  • Completes documentation and fields in EMR templates as defined by program workflows and applicable policy.

  • At conclusion of intake, completes SBAR handoff to the clinician scheduled to see the patient and documents the SBAR

You may also perform non-invasive routine technical services under the supervision of a license physician, surgeon or podiatrist who is on the premises. You will function within his/her scope of education/certification not to exceed what is permitted by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center policies, procedures and guidelines.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program

License/Certification Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association

  • Phlebotomy Certification required

Experience:

  • Minimum two years previous medical office or hospital clinic experience is preferred

  • Previous work experience in an outpatient setting or physician’s office, preferred.

Certified by one of the following agencies approved by the Medical Board of California:
