Job Summary:

Performs preventive

maintenance and calibration of medical equipment. Troubleshoots both analog and digital

electronic circuits to component level under minimum supervision; evaluates and

resolves operational problems involving medical equipment at the request of

clinical staff and department management; completes and records all required

maintenance documentation; serves in on-call rotation as required by department

manager.

Job Responsibilities:

Adjusts, calibrates, lubricates, performs operational verification,

tests electronic safety, and other tasks to ensure optimal performance of

complex instrument systems.

Performs periodic maintenance to ensure biomedical

instrumentation systems are functioning properly, providing accurate

information to clinicians, and is safe for use.

Demonstrates thoroughness and attention to details.

Demonstrates the ability to manage changing workload priorities with some

supervision. Makes the best use of time

available.

Sets and achieves educational and job proficiency

goals.

Demonstrates an advanced level of electronics

knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

Learns and understands the operation and service routines for more

complex and specialized medical device and laboratory systems.

Demonstrates the ability to understand and use basic biomedical test

equipment.

Demonstrates a basic technical understanding of computers, clinical

networks, and the use of associated test equipment.

Understands the

technology’s use model as part of the clinical workflow.

Communicates clearly with

users in patient care areas during rounds or while investigating reported

malfunctions.

Works with department management to identify and

improve key skill areas necessary for career growth.

  • Associate of Science Degree in Electronic/BiomedicalElectronics or related field; a combination of experience and education isacceptable. Prefer B.S. degree inElectrical/Biomedical Engineering.

  • C.B.E.T. certification; or specialty biomedical skill such as Imaging orAnesthesia equipment.

  • Two (2) yearsexperience as biomedical electronics technician and familiarity with a widerange of patient care and/or laboratory equipment.

  • Good knowledge of industry standards and regulations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
