Under the leadership of the Associate Director the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of Ambulatory Infusion and Bronchoscopy Lab to provide high quality, individualized patient care and in support of Medical Center philosophies. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as a leader and an expert professional practitioner, and assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes his/her knowledge base and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others, demonstrates motivation and creativity, and serves as a catalyst for effective change within Nursing at the department and institutional levels. The Assistant Nurse Manager ensures nursing staff on assigned unit(s) perform within their scope of responsibility and duties, and ensures accountability at the facility, department and position levels, including knowledge of required clinical/technical skills consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, Joint Commission, The Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, The Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, and other regulatory requirements. Additional management responsibilities include compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals supporting quality improvement and the clinical care delivery processes; staffing, scheduling, and retention of staff; safety and quality management; and participation on unit practice council. In conjunction with the Assoc. Director, the Assistant Nurse Manager assists with all administrative processes including human resources, budgeting, staffing, quality improvement planning and educational development programs. The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises and assumes responsibility for promoting maximum growth and development of each employee he/she supervises, supports research, participates in strategic planning, both long and short term, and assures patient advocacy.

Qualification Requirements/Preferences:

Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Nursing required. Master’s degree preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

Valid State of California Registered Nurse License required

ACLS, BCLS credential required

Specialty Certification

Experience:

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an acute care, hospital outpatient, or ambulatory area, which includes two (2) years in specialty and supervisory experience. Working knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other state and local regulatory requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area. Demonstrates commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues. Full command (verbal and written) of the English language. Demonstrated success working independently, forging relationships, and managing multiple tasks with minimal directions. Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information for decision support. High level of proficiency using Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Office software. Must be able to manage competing priorities, while being extremely adaptable and flexible and maintaining a positive work environment.

Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking)

The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. Must be able to perform assigned duties in a fast paced work environment. Ability to move throughout all areas of the immediate and adjacent Medical Center and Health System campus, Ability to sit and perform data entry for long periods of time. Ability to work within limited space and focus on complete work and surrounding multiple actives occurring and varying noise levels. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
