Valley Oncology Medical Group treats more than 60 types of cancer for our patients in Tarzana and the surrounding area. From our team of expert cancer doctors, researchers, nurses and staff, to our research and treatment innovations, we're here to guide patients during their cancer journey.
As a member of the patient care team and the primary point of patient contact, you will be responsible for positive patient relations, proper telephone communication, appointment scheduling, patient registration, as well as payment and co-payment collection. This position also performs routine duties associated with the collection and maintenance of current patient demographics and insurance information.
Summary of Essential Duties:
Manage patient care flow and assist with monitoring CS-Link message pools and standard work
Check-in and out patients and collect co-payments/give receipts/reconcile payments
Verify that patient demographic and insurance information is correct in CS-Link
Demonstrate the knowledge necessary to schedule appointments, complete patient registration, collect patient payments and to ensure a high level of patient service
Process and track referrals/authorizations
Handle patient/provider correspondence
Address patient, physician, and staff concerns
Assist with the management of physician schedules
Demonstrate the ability to communicate with patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, insurance plans, and other departments
Explain policies, procedures, or services to patients using administrative knowledge
Participate in daily huddles and staff meetings
Assist with tracking and monitoring department specific data
Follow all infection prevention standards
Adhere to all department policies and guidelines
- High School Diploma or GED required
A minimum of two (2) years of clinic office experience working as a Patient Service Representative in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting required
Experience with medical insurance, referral processes and benefit plans required
Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems required; experience with CS-Link/Epic Healthcare preferred
Excellent verbal and writing skills required
Strong customer service and teamwork skills required
