You will support the physicians and nursing staff inthe delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically related tasks

The Senior MedicalAssistant is responsible for positive patient relations, proper telephonecommunication, verification of patient information by interviewing patient andconfirming purpose of visit. The Medical Assistant is also responsible toprepare the patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests,taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting patient historysummary. This position will also be trained and will be responsible forappointment scheduling, and to perform routine duties associated with thecollection and maintenance of current patient demographics and insuranceinformation.

The Senior MedicalAssistant will perform required responsibilities based on the standard work fortheir department with minimal supervision with the ability, skill and knowledgeto work in more than one specialty area.

Job Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Greets patients, take appropriate vital signs, reviewcurrent medications and record in medical record

  • Coordinates, or serve as liaison, for administrativeand clinical (based on scope of practice) support activities includingfacilities management, patient billing, utilization management, qualitymanagement, risk management, human resources, and payroll

  • Coordinates communication between patients, familymembers, medical staff, administrative staff, insurance plans, and otherdepartments

  • Manages patient care flow and assist with monitoringCS-Link message pools and standard work

  • Monitors their own workflow independently to meet therequirements of their position at a level of expertise that requiresminimal supervision

  • Assists with tracking and monitoring departmentspecific data

  • Explains policies, procedures, or services to patientsusing clinical or administrative knowledge, based on scope of practice

  • Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately basedon patient visit needs

  • Cleans/re-processes equipment and supplies based onstandard work and department guidelines

  • Addresses patient, physician, and staff concerns andresolve problems accordingly

  • Provides assistance and direct patient inquiries orcomplaints to appropriate medical staff members and follow up to ensuresatisfactory resolution

  • May lead daily huddles and staff meetings andparticipates in performance improvement activities within the localassigned department


  • Graduationfrom accredited Medial Assistant school

  • HighSchool Diploma/GED

  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educationalprogram

License Requirements:

Basic Life Support (BLS)

certification required from the American Heart Association and/or American Red



  • 3years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatientclinical/medical office setting required

  • 5years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatientclinical/medical office setting preferred

  • Strongunderstanding of medical insurance and benefit plans

  • EpicSuper-user, must demonstrate a level of expertise with CS-Link anddepartment workflows
