Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, has an opening in the GI Unit, Endoscopy for a Regisetered Nurse III.

Cedars-Sinai provides virtually every known gastroenterologic procedure and treatment for digestive diseases and disorders. With inpatient and outpatient programs and state-of-the-art technology, specialized and internationally renowned physicians, and a body of research, clinical expertise and results, the Cedars-Sinai Digestive Disease team treats all disorders with skill and experience.

The Registered Nurse administers and performs Moderate Sedation as per “Sedation” policy, Administrative Manual #CCN00213. Upon completion of Moderate Sedation Competency and Post Test, demonstrate knowledge of/and can implement approved discharge criteria for patients post sedation/anesthesia.

The Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge of relevant pre-procedure physical, emotional, psychological and other special needs of a patient undergoing GI procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of/implements pre-procedural testing and other clinical guidelines and protocols as appropriate; integrates data received and initiates early and appropriate interventions.

Demonstrates knowledge of GI/Endoscopy procedures with relevant experience. Procedures including diagnostic as well as interventional endoscopy procedures.

Provides assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff and students; evaluates and documents the orientation process.

When assigned charge nurse responsibility, coordinates unit activity throughout the shift, initiates chain of command as appropriate.

Participates in at least 50% of unit meetings and provides constructive input to assist in unit direction.

Delegates and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed health care workers within the scope of their job responsibilities.

Qualification Requirements/Preferences:

Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements:

BSN and CGRN preferred

Licenses/Certifications/Registration Requiements:

Current CA RN licenses, AHA, BLS, ACLS, PALS required and specialty certification preferred

Experience:

One or more years of procedural experience in the endoscopy setting.

Physical Demands:

•Full body motion

•Full sensory response (vision, speech, hearing, smell, touch)

•Manual finger dexterity and fine motor skills with eye-hand coordination

•Frequent standing, walking, twisting (trunk, neck), bending (waist), flexing/extending/stretching (extremities and trunk)

•Occasional sitting, gripping/grasping, reaching below shoulder level, reaching above shoulder level, kneeling, squatting

•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull at least 100 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
