Job Posting: The Laboratory Assistant II is an unlicensed member of the laboratory staff who works under the direct supervision of supervisory personnel. Lab Assistant will provide support by picking up and delivering specimens within Anatomic Pathology. Activities include routine operational and support functions. Additional duties include specimen and supply handling; specimen receipt for accessioning, inventory, storage, processing, and discard.
Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Education:
High school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience in a laboratory setting (minimum 6 months), including familiarity with laboratory information systems. Appropriate interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians and other customers. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking)
Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet. Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communications devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, mechanical failure alarms. Visual acuity acceptable for performing duties of this position. Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and, other customers.
